7 years with Cricket ACT comes to an end
I have spent the last 7 years at Cricket ACT, servicing the ACT Meteors (Canberra’s women’s cricket team that competes in the Women’s National Cricket League) as the performance dietitian.
I thank the organisation for having me there for so long, as well as Michelle Cort at Cricket Australia for leading the charge of state dietitians during my time with ACT.
I have worked in a number of different sports and in my opinion, cricket continues to lead in terms of the way they prioritise sport science integration and the attention to detail they give in trying to get it right. Getting things right sometimes slows things down but in the end, I think I have always valued attention to detail over moving quickly. Sometimes you can, but more often than not, you can’t have both.
I have seen some hard working and dedicated cricketers over the years, who leave no stone unturned in trying to learn about and understand all aspects of high performance. I thank them for their efforts and shared belief in the value of having high standards both on and off the field. There is nothing better than everyone pushing for something better.
As they say, all good things must come to an end! It felt like it was time to pass the dietitian reigns onto someone new, who can bring a fresh approach, fresh face and fresh energy to the program.
I continue my work at Specialist Sports Medicine Centre and the Canberra Raiders NRL team.
