My top 10 favourite books ... so far

In no particular order:

  1. Clinical Sports Nutrition by Louise Burke, Vicki Deakin and Michelle Minehan
  2. Practical Sports Nutrition by Louise Burke
  3. Motivational Interviewing in Nutrition and Fitness by Dawn Clifford and Laura Curtis
  4. Nutrition Counseling in the Treatment of Eating Disorders by Marcia Herrin and Maria Larkin
  5. Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch
  6. Food Politics by Marion Nestle
  7. The Biochemical Basis of Sports Performance by Ron Maughan and Michael Gleeson
  8. Caffeine for Sports Performance by Louise Burke, Ben Desbrow and Lawrence Spriet
  9. The Complete Guide to Food for Sports Performance by Louise Burke and Greg Cox
  10. Gut by Giulia Enders

I’ve now been working as a dietitian for just over 10 years. I wanted to reflect on my top 10 favourite books in my field that I’ve read in the last 10 years. Of course I could list more… but these have been some absolute stand outs for me!

I’d recommend all of them to any dietitian or any dietetics student. For the general pop who have an interest in nutrition – I’d suggest that ‘Food Politics’ and ‘Gut’ are both insightful and interesting reads. For athletes looking for some advice on sports nutrition (without it being too technical or science-y), I’d suggest ‘The Complete Guide to Food for Sports Performance’.

Happy reading!!!
